Recital news

Yeah so…

Yeah so the Sequenza went ok I think. People seemed to enjoy the piece, which Marek seemed almost surprised at, and I was kinda pleased with how  played it. Oh and he has put a wee entry on it onto his website.

I’m thinking about doing competitions in Poland over the summer, in addition to all the other stuff that will be going on, but we’ll see what happens I guess. So perhaps I will enter this one. I would fit into the younger category, still being 17.

Eindhoven recital

The interior of the hall

Yeah, so Ian and I, back in I think November played to the Duo Lisme as part of a masterclass in the RSAMD. So they were really nice and took to our playing for some reason, then dedicated one of their pieces in their concert that evening to us. Which was embarrasing of course, but flattering also.

Anyway, about a month and a half on we got invited to perform in the Netherlands as part of a young artists programme. So we will play for an hour there in December this year. I think it is either the 17th or the 13th.

I forget the order of the programme, but I know that I am playing Rodrigo’s Treis Piezas Espanolas, and Ian is playing Bach Violin Sonata (on guitar). As a duet we will play the Tango Suite by Piazzolla and also Giuliani’s Variazioni Concertante. I think that programme is definite.

Concert on Friday

Yeah so umm I’ve not been here in a while, just been busy or i’m making excuses for myself.

There is the PLUG composition festival on at the RSAMD at the moment, so basically nearly all the students must learn some crazy hard piece and perform it. I have the Sequenza no. 12 by Marek Pascieczny, which I think Edoardo Catemario will perform in the Wigmore hall this August (if I rememer correctly), but my performance is tomorrow in the Academy Concert hall at 1pm. So if you can make it please come along, it would be a laugh.

But yeah I think I will be video recording it as well, so I may put up one on here soon.

Recent concerts

My gigs in St. Andrew’s university, and around the RSAMD all went well. I hope they were enjoyed.

Concert today

Hi basically to say that if you’re in Glasgow tonight, then at 7pm there’s a concert in the RSAMD guinness room. So please come along.

Concert tomorrow

I am playing for 15 minutes in a concert in central Glasgow, so if you are free to come please do. It promises to be good. All performers are from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama.

This is the church interior. It’s pretty nice actually…I thought it would be a kinda modernish one, but this is really nice to play in. I am also going through the church sound system - we tried it with no amplification, then with a wee amp, and then realised that there was a mic link already so the Minister could speak a wee bit louder also.

So yeah you’ll hear it fine.

Concerts

I have a number of concerts coming in the next few weeks – 2 in Glasgow and one in the University hall of St. Andrew’s. Check the concerts page for more info.

Summer recitals

I performed a series of three solo recitals during August in Edinburgh this year, all of which were based around the work “Jacob’s Ladder”, by Haflidi Hallgrimsson (recently appointed composer in residence for the Icelandic Symphony Orchestra). I recieved a small ‘taster’ piece in The List, a magazine following musical events in and around Scotland, but more notably a review by Conrad Wilson of the first of those concerts that summer.

Err yeah and photos… for the sake of publicity a fine photographer Diarmid Weir took some publicity shoots of me, one of which appears on the link for The List, but I’ll put it here anyway.
