Also, I forgot to say. I will probably be playing in Aberdeen over the summer in the Aberdeen International Youth Festival. George Duthie (a pianist at the RSAMD, and colleague from my time at the Aberdeen City Music School) will play a selection of works for guitar and piano, and of course some solo as [...]

Yeah so…
Yeah so the Sequenza went ok I think. People seemed to enjoy the piece, which Marek seemed almost surprised at, and I was kinda pleased with how played it. Oh and he has put a wee entry on it onto his website. I'm thinking about doing competitions in Poland over the summer, in addition to [...]
Pictures
So for this Eindhoven thing we were told to send the Hall authorities 3 or 4 hi-res pictures for the promgramme. So we sent them 2. I think they are fine and we look shiny. e got them taken by the RSAMD photographer guy called Kenneth Dundas who I also took that photo that David [...]
New Youtube video
Yeah so umm I have recorded on video the Sequenza for Solo guitar by Marek Pascienczny (who is my old teacher from when I went to Broughton), so that'll go onto youtube soon I think. I'll probably embed it on the videos page here as well.
Eindhoven recital
Yeah, so Ian and I, back in I think November played to the Duo Lisme as part of a masterclass in the RSAMD. So they were really nice and took to our playing for some reason, then dedicated one of their pieces in their concert that evening to us. Which was embarrasing of course, but [...]
Concert on Friday
Yeah so umm I've not been here in a while, just been busy or i'm making excuses for myself. There is the PLUG composition festival on at the RSAMD at the moment, so basically nearly all the students must learn some crazy hard piece and perform it. I have the Sequenza no. 12 by Marek [...]
ROSL arts competition
Yeah so err yesterday I was in the String section final of the ROSL arts competition. I didn't win, but got some prize for a 'ayoung string player of promise'. So yeah. That was fun.
Recent concerts
My gigs in St. Andrew's university, and around the RSAMD all went well. I hope they were enjoyed.
Chanterelle guitar prize
Last Thursday I won the Chanterelle guitar prize, winning £200 of music vouchers.
Concert today
Hi basically to say that if you're in Glasgow tonight, then at 7pm there's a concert in the RSAMD guinness room. So please come along.
Concert tomorrow
I am playing for 15 minutes in a concert in central Glasgow, so if you are free to come please do. It promises to be good. All performers are from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. This is the church interior. It's pretty nice actually...I thought it would be a kinda modernish one, but this [...]
Chanterelle guitar prize
I will be competing for the RSAMD chanterelle guitar prize on the 11 December. I will be playing the Prelude from the 4th Lute Suite (J. S. Bach) and Bagatelle no. 1 by William Walton. The prize is £200 worth of music published by Chanterelle.
Concerts
I have a number of concerts coming in the next few weeks - 2 in Glasgow and one in the University hall of St. Andrew's. Check the concerts page for more info.
New youtube video
I have uploaded a new video to youtube, another excerpt of my Summer recitals. This time it is a bit of Brazilian music, that of Heitor Villa-Lobos. His most famous works for guitar were probably the 5 Preludes, and this is no. 4. So now I have the Walton Bagatelles nos 1 and 5 and [...]
Audio files
I realise that the point of a musical blog would seem to be so that you could post your own music but of course I can't post pure audio which is a bit of a pain. However I can put youtube videos of me onto this so here's a taster. We had two cameras recording [...]
Summer recitals
I performed a series of three solo recitals during August in Edinburgh this year, all of which were based around the work "Jacob's Ladder", by Haflidi Hallgrimsson (recently appointed composer in residence for the Icelandic Symphony Orchestra). I recieved a small 'taster' piece in The List, a magazine following musical events in and around Scotland, but more notably [...]
